Ottawa est le point de rencontre de deux cultures soit celui d’une architecture moderne et celui d’une architecture à caractère plutôt historique et possède certaines des plus belles installations culturelles dans le pays. Le Musée des beaux-arts du Canada - qui jouit d’une réputation internationale - attire un nombre record de visiteurs de partout dans le monde pour des expositions de maîtres tels que Renoir et Picasso. Le Centre National des Arts est un chef de file en ce qui a trait à la présentation de musique classique et contemporaine, de théâtre et de danse.
